I have to say, this is my first time going on an international mission trip, but it will definitely not be my last. After going on this trip, I have a completely different outlook on everything I have in this life. God has blessed me so above and beyond anything I could imagine. I really don't have that much money, I like in a little townhouse with my wife, and I drive a Honda Element. When we compare what we have to celebrities, and those we see on TV flaunting their riches, it doesn't seem like much. But when you visit a Third World Country, and see the smiles on their faces, and the joy in their hearts, even while living in shacks, and eating once every couple days, it really puts things into perspective. I know that God here in America is the same God in Guatemala, and every other struggling nation in our world. His love is extravagant and His glory is being revealed all over the globe. Coming back to the states, I am reminded how blessed we are, and how sad our view of "convenient Christianity" has become. We have to start living like it's worthy dying for. I was part of a worship service in Guatemala, and these people hold nothing back. Their level of faith is inspiring, and I can't say enough about how blown away I am at their hope, love, and contagious joy.
I can't wait to go on another mission trip, and I encourage all of us to live like today might be our last here on Earth.

All your heart, soul, and mind..

Well, guys, it's 2010! Just crazy to me to think that I've been in Nashville for 4 years now, and I'm really only beginning this journey. I'm in the middle of a WILD transition right now, and I'll be able to share more about it in the next couple of months, but just know that God has really been speaking to me and showing me what a true "walk of faith" looks like.
For those that go to church, or even if you don't, and you're wondering what FAITH is all about, let me just tell you. FAITH is believing in things that you can't see, but knowing that they are there. Faith in God is hearing His word, and obeying it, even when it doesn't fit into the "normal" or "logical" path that we so often want to walk.
I'm learning that this life with Christ is a true adventure, and when it becomes anything other than that, we are missing the goal! Looking at the early church, and the first disciples, they didn't have a "game-plan", heck, half the time they didn't even know where their next meal was coming from, they just knew that they had been called by God to spread the Gospel, and so that's what they did. Everything else just fell in line...
We read that verse in the Bible (one of my favs) "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL these things shall be added unto you"-Matthew 6:33. I really think that if we let this year, be the year of our transformation, and seek Him first, EVERYTHING (relationships, money, bills, problems, etc.) and I mean EVERYTHING will be taken care of for us. Give Him complete control of your desires, your dreams, and your life, and He will direct your path.
That's where I'm at this year. Learning to really love the Lord with all my HEART, SOUL, and MIND. It's one thing to sing about it, and read about it... but to actually DO it! That's the hardest part of it all. But I'm seeing that when we step out in faith, and live the adventure... that's when God shows up, and blows our mind!!
Love u guys, and I'll be sharing some really cool news soon!
Peace,
Kurtis

new song up for the Christmas Season!

Hey guys,
I just posted a sweet version of my favorite Christmas song of all time on the music page. What song is it? Well, you'll have to go listen to find out! Features my long time bandmate and good friend Josh Kim on classical guitar.

Also, check out Chris Tomlin's new Christmas Worship album called, "Glory in the Highest". I sang in the choir on the album!! It was such a cool experience.

And last but not least- remember all that you have this year, and don't focus on what you DON'T have. Be joyful, and keep God first.

Much love &
Merry Christmas,

kurtis
www.kurtisparks.com

back in town

Well, we just got back from another long month out on the road. 16 shows (in 32 days) later, and I'm ready to get some rest. We're holding auditions this week to find a new drummer, since Elliott is going the way of Old Yeller. Should be interesting, hopefully we'll find the right guy. I've got a ton of new songs for "The Season", so when you guys come out to see us, we'll have several fresh tunes in the arsenal. Check www.theseasononline.com for upcoming gigs. Much love, and as always...Rock on

Back in action!

Hey guys, it's been a while, but i'm gonna be updating this site now, pretty regularly. As most of you know, life's been crazy touring non-stop with my band The Season. Josh, Elliot, and I have been to about 20 different states in the last 4 months and have rocked out every show to the fullest. It's been tough some nights, especially when there's only like 10 people in the audience. Then there's those nights where there's over 2,000 like in Charlotte, opening up for Cowboy Mouth. That's what the life is all about. Anywho, I've signed a publishing deal which means I'm writing a ton of songs outside of "the Season" style, so you'll get to hear some of those as I record 'em. Visit me on myspace at www.myspace.com/kurtisparks and leave me some love. Rock on, my children.
